My Story
In June 2008, I got my first job as an I.T Support sa isang maliit na office sa Makati.
Simple lang ang trabaho, to maintain, update and fix any computer issues or I.T related issues within the company.
Since fresh grad ako, maliit lang din ang sahod.
Na-realized ko hindi ako mag-gogrow kasi walang challenge at paulit-ulit na ang ginagawa. I’m bored and feel stuck.
I lasted for almost 2 years there before I resigned.
In 2010, I decided to jump and took the leap of faith to find a new job in the booming BPO industry.
Why I resigned?
Because of the following main reasons:

When working as a technical support, I got promoted several times. From just a tech support to Sr. tech support to Level 5 escalation team.
Dito ko na nakilala at narining si Cisco.
Yung mga naging ka-team ko sa Level 5, mga Cisco certified at mga batikan na sa I.T. Yung iba sa servers, yung iba sa database at yun ngang iba sa networking.
Sobrang namangha ako sa kanila na may halong konting inggit kasi:
- Ang lalaki ng sahod nila(as in!!!)
- Ang daming dumadating na opportunities sa kanila like promotion, trainings in and out of the country, and more high paying job offer na in and out of the country din
- They have certification and expert in their fields
- Magagaling mag-troubleshoot kasi systematic and organize ang approach
- They are respected and looked-up to by other I.Ts
I got interested in Cisco specifically sa CCNA kasi nga I was just starting.
Yun ung naging “AHA” moment ko na I want to be a CCNA and network engineer someday.
Ang problema, wala naman ako alam sa Cisco. Hindi ko alam kung saan ako magsisimula.
Ito yung ilan sa mga naging problema at challenge ko noon:
- Hindi ko alam kung saan ako magsisimula sa aking CCNA journey
- Nag-search ako sa internet pero "nosebleed" din ako at hindi ko maintindihan
- Ang mga "expert online" puro "technical terms" ang gamit eh kamusta naman yun, bago pa nga lang ako
- I feel alone. Wala man lang ako mapag-tanungan or mapag-kwentuhan ng mga about sa CCNA na ka-level ko
- Ang mahal ng bootcamp, wala pa naman akong ipon that time
- Walang nag-mementor or nagtuturo talaga sa akin para mapadali at mapabilis ang journey ko
I told you, I know how it feels.
Pero dahil talagang gustong-gusto ko, ginawan ko ng paraan. Nag-ipon ako, gumastos sa training at nag-sakripisyo to make it happen.
To make the long story short, I passed the exam and became CCNA.
I resigned from my technical support job kasi nga gusto ko ng mas mataas na sahod at mag-grow ang aking I.T career.
I was hired as a NOC in one of the largest foreign BPO operating in the Philippines.
As a Service Desk/NOC, kami ang nagha-handle ng monitoring and ticketing ng buong I.T infrastructure. I learned a lot from this experience.
Year after I was promoted as a Network Administrator.
I’m so happy.
